Bill: 2579 Budget (UHT)
Details
Submitted by[?]: Union of Higher Thinking
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2580
Description[?]:
The Union of Higher Thinking propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the State of Indrala. Mo Neuss' Budget: I have taken further steps to re-align our spending commitments. The Health and Education increases I ommitted in the last budget are now in place. The bottom 4 spending categories have all been aligned to 200,000,000,000 INS to reflect the equal priority they deserve. Finally, Internal Affairs spending has doubled, since this is a key area (policing, prisons, etc). The net spending increases still yield a budget surplus. |

Message | We want to see some of the current surplus go into a reduction in corporation tax and an increase in military spending. We feel also that the increase in spending on Internal Affairs and Trade and Industry is too sharp and that the decrease in spending on Science and Technology is too heavy. As it stands we will not support this budget. |

Message | Neuss: In the previous budget the spending areas that you cite were raised in a spree of new spending commitments. In fact Science and Technology before 2575 was at only 150,000,000,000, so it is still more. I now believe that some increases were too great, and that the bottom 4 categories all ultimately deserve the same funding. In the same budget, Defence spending was also increased greatly. I believe that our long term commitments to your areas of concern are therefore sound. |

Message | We still wish to see a greater tax incentive for private investment, and even if their is a long term aim to increase defence spending it is not represented here. We accept you reasoning for the change in the Science and Technology budget but not the Trade & Industry budget. We remain opposed. |
