Bill: People Above Trees Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kirlawan National Party (Leftists)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2588
Description[?]:
With this bill, we shall allow people to live their lives, without government forcing them to comprimise on their technology. We believe, here at the DSP, that people and their lives come before trees, and that inaminate objects of nature are not important than real human beings, with real lives, and real rights. Our current laws take away people's right to choose what they eat, what they throw away, and so on, in gross violation of people's civil liberties. It is not the role of government to force people to do anything with their lives, especially when we are forcing them to help inaminate objects. The lives of human beings are more important than the lives of animals. Ask yourself, would you rather a pig died, or a human child? Humans have a right to medecine, and a right to choose their medecine. We must test medecines on animals, not on human beings, to ensure they are safe. We cannot toy with human lives, at least, that is what the DSP believes. We believe that human life and prosperity are more important than all other things, and shall fight for human beings, not trees and mud. Our tree replanting laws are far too harsh. Companies should only replace what they cut down, not make new trees and new forests. It is outrageous to say that companies ought to replace something that was never there. They just need to replace what they cut down, that is all. Forestry companies are not tree-planting companies. And limited logging hurt no one at all. Some people are responsible, and ought to be able to log for their families and for money. As long as it is limited, it is fine. Who says we cannot make money of our land? We don't. And so, vote for Kirlawans, not trees, and vote for this bill to liberalize our ecological laws. It is what the people of Kirlawa want. |

Message | Very strongly opposed. And furthermore, we're shocked that these harmful, destructive, and senseless proposals are being advanced by a supposedly "socialist" party. Instead, to us this bill feels much more like something that our arch-rivals the LLH might have proposed. Environment-hating ... pro-corporate ... anti-animal ... pro-poison. LLH all the way. Even more strikingly, genetic manipulation of and interference in our food was one of LLH's most beloved causes, right up there with their drug abuse. LLH went inactive less than a decade (OOC four days or so) before DSP appeared. Hmmm.... If you're not LLH operating undercover, and you want to learn about democratic socialism for real, please observe and listen to (or better yet ask) the KDL. They're knowledgeable and wise, and have been here a lot longer than we leftist-nationalist populists in the KPJP have. :) |

Message | Look at the polls my friend, the people want this. True socialism, the kind advanced by the DSP, is placing people, the working man, above all else, and that includes trees, animals, and mud. |

Message | This bill does not eliminate environmental regulations, merely liberalizes them a bit. |
Date | 05:16:35, June 07, 2008 CET | From | Kirlawan National Party (Leftists) | To | Debating the People Above Trees Act |
Message | And also, I believe people have a right to choose what the eat, not what the government forces them to eat. |
Date | 10:54:09, June 07, 2008 CET | From | Kirlawa Democratic Labour | To | Debating the People Above Trees Act |
Message | GM crops are unnatural. Our current policies help the environment. Also, in such an anti-environment bill;, why do you want to support nuclear power? It is potentially dangerous, and Kirlawa has other forms of renewable energy. We are opposed. |
Date | 16:15:36, June 07, 2008 CET | From | Kirlawan National Party (Leftists) | To | Debating the People Above Trees Act |
Message | Nuclear power is a clean form of energy, which is cheap and futuristic. Again, I believe people have the right to choose what they eat. |
