From | Labour Party | To | Debating the Social Assistance Act | Message | In a capitalist system there is always unemployment, because unlike in a socialist system full employment and the welfare of the citiizen is not the goal. As such there are periods of prolonged unemployment, or even permanent unemployment, and introducing merely subsistence level welfare limited to just a short period of time is to ignore the system we live in, and an insult to those in poverty. |

From | Rutanian Democratic Forum | To | Debating the Social Assistance Act | Message | They cannot work. As we said in the intro, the purpose of this proposal is to give some assistance to the people who are not able to work. |

From | Labour Party | To | Debating the Social Assistance Act | Message | If they cannot work, then why only provide them with subsistence level living for a limited period of time? What do they do when that time is up? We will not support a bill which leaves some of the worst off in our society just as badly off. |

From | Labour Party | To | Debating the Social Assistance Act | Message | We will vote for this then. But we believe strongly that government assistance should be above the level of mere subsistence. There is the political will for this with the combined LP, RDF and NPP votes. |

From | Federal Rutanian Libertarian Union | To | Debating the Social Assistance Act | Message | If we give them a government guaranteed level of income that is above the level of mere subsistence we will end up with a lazy and unproductive workforce and that we cannot have. This bill now creates an environment for that sort of attitude to fester within our society and this should not happen. We were more likely to vote for the previous changes, this new change is just horrible |

From | Labour Party | To | Debating the Social Assistance Act | Message | The alternative is what? People who cannot work because of disability, or because of the nature of capitalism being left homeless and without any means of eeking out an existence?
Not many people will actually do as the LCP suggest, and it is simply a tabloid scare story. But, in all honesty, the Labour Party would be happier to see some abuses of the system, than let people go hungry and go without any means of survival in a society where money is essential merely to survive. |

From | Imperium Party | To | Debating the Social Assistance Act | Message | The IP disapprove this. It is just another way of wasting money for the goverment. We already have pensions etc. And again, your trying to say that people on wheelchairs cannot work. Your insulting them, just because they are on a wheelchair doesn't mean that they cannot do other tasks that a fully abled person can do, they can work on a cashier. |
