Fabian Castelli, Vicepresident of RRDF: "Mr. Speaker! dear members of Congress. I want to draw your attention to important issue that raises the question of public security: religious cults. What is a cult? Cult refers to a cohesive social group devoted to beliefs or practices which have negative perception, and are often negative. In the last few years, we have seen some examples of this: a number of cults have been involved in some criminal acitivities. I ask this Government and this Congress to stop this! This must stop , we must protect all our citizens from this abuse of religion and religious freedom, also from criminal activities of this kind." |

Message | It is unfair to attack cults. organised religions have committed more crimes than any other religious or 'pseudo-religious' group. The Crusades, the burning and massacre of Jews and Arabs were all undertaken by the Church or in the name of the Church. Suicide bombings are undertaken in the name of Islam (in what is obviously a perversion), and it was the Catholic Church in Rome which preached against Liberation Theology being practiced in Latin America. We see it as wrong to attack cults for being 'negative' given the history of organised religion. This is not to say the Labour party are opposed to religion - after all, Christian Socialism was a very big influence on our Party's early development. However, we must view the questions of religions, of cults, and of 'negativity' in a braoder and more accurate context. |

Message | Fabian Castelli speaks: "We do not agree - if a crime is commited "in the name of the church", this doesn't mean that it is in accordance with those religious principles. Also, historical events cannot be very well compared to current situation. We are against any criminal acitivies of cults, and they are really often engaged in such activities, and those crimes are really in accordance with cult principles. We see it as wrong and letting people die because of some "unfairness to cults". This crime activities are often here in Rutania, police statistics says, in last 5 years, 124 crimes were committed by cults or cult members, and members of 19 cults were arested and prosecuted because of committed crimes. Isn't now the time to stop this violent behavior? " |

Message | We did not suggest that a crime committed in the name of the church was a crime in accordance with the wishes of the church. However, people have taken these teachings and committed violence - why do we not clamp down on organised religion? It is wrong to assume that a cult will inherently be violent. The existing law is sufficient to deal with any threat a cult may present to an individual or to society. Persecution is simply not necessary - rather, objective, and fairly implemented law, is. |

Message | I think you're being a bit illogical: religion is ok, but religious people have done bad things, therefore we have to fight organised religion. And cults are having criminal activities in their description! So, the prohibition of religion is not a solution, but fighting criminal cults is. |

Random quote: "The Revolution needs to progress. We as humans need to evolve into higher beings through better moral virtues. And we can achieve that if we clean ourselves from the immoral. Those who go against the Revolution, go against human progress and must be freed in the most humane way possible. That is why we introduced the guillotine." - Maximus Robertson, former Davostani revolutionary |
