Bill: Local Authority Over Child Benefits Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Dranland First Party (CC)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2606

Description[?]:

The Reform Party believes that child welfare should not be determined by the federal government, and should instead be left to the discretion of local and regional governments.
If matters of welfare are left to local governments, they will be more responsive to the particular and individual needs of each community and family in their jurisdiction. If determined on a national scale, this enforces an unnecessary uniformity in these matters, at the expense of the interests of local families and communities with their own particularities.
We propose that the responsibility over matters of welfare be delegated to local and regional governments, so that these governments can form policies that are more responsive and more relevant to their local communities and families. This is not purely an issue of national importance, and so it need not be determined on a national scale.
