Message | Without healthcare subsidy by the government, health insurance can return to competition-based free-market. Health care costs will be drastically reduced, and rather than taxes being taken from the nonsick and the sick alike to pay for the sick, even the poor sick can buy cheap insurance created by the free market and the poor who aren't sick needn't pay for healthcare they don't need. |

Message | The circumstances the Sons of Liberty describe are that of a perfect market outcome. Whilst this woud be ideal, it relies too much on abstract economic assumptions and best case scenarios. Certainly, an industry left to the private sector often increases in efficiency and can provide better standards and lower costs. But in reality, it is unlikely that the poorest families of Dranland will ever be able to afford adequate healthcare without any subsidy whatsoever. The Reform Party does not want to subject an industry as vital as healthcare to the jungle-law, dog-eat-dog unfettered market that the Sons of Liberty have so much faith in. OOC: I would, of course, prefer that any government funded healthcare or healthcare subsidies be left entirely to local governments, but I don't think there is even an option for that. Same goes for education which is fairly annoying for a party of my persuasion. If I had to choose from the options available then I'd have to go with a mixed private\public healthcare system or a private system with subsidies for all, but I cannot support a completely private healthcare system with no subsidy. |
