MessageWe must keep the current restrictions on alcohol to ensure that minors are less likely to buy alcohol, also to preserve the sanity of public areas, we should keep restrictions on where to consume alcohol.

MessageWe are steadfast in our original belief that minors can consume alcohol whereby they have been granted permission by their parents/guardians.

MessageBut, CPR, what about health concerns with youth?

MessageYes, I would like to point out to our colleagues in the CPR that alcohol is a drug and can poison the body, we simply can not allow our nation's youth to ingest sinful venoms into their bodies, we will vote the same way for other drugs such as tobacco and marijuana.

MessageWell, we are indeed concerned with the health of our youth, but we feel that we should give the decision making power to guardians and so should only limit the purchasing of alcohol to adults. We should also give the limitation that children may only consume alcohol in the presence of their own parents and not in the presence of un-related adults.

MessageBut this is illogical then, if you allow that youth can consume alcohol (even if detrimental for their health) just in presence of their parents, it's a little bit awkward. Imagine police who sees a minor consuming alcohol. Police officers then must first ask adulst around if they are related to that child!! And this has nothing to do with health concerns. RDF understands the liberal opinion of CPR and NLP, but we do not think it's a liberty issue, it's an issue of health and diseases and addiction prevention, and no person can be truly free without being healthy. So, CPR and NLP proposal just gives an illusion of liberty, RDF must say.

MessageIt's hardly an illusion, we find this bill is simply nannying the people and restricting the freedom of choice and the responsibility of parenting. We don't believe the situation that the RDF provides would be an accurate represenation on what may happen, further we would even provide for restrictions on where alcohol can be consumed by minors (i.e. private homes, licensed restaurants).

MessageNo, the proposal is clear: alcohol beverages can be purchased and consumed anywhere, but only by adults. This does not restrict the freedom of choice, it forces (with every right) socially responsible behavior upon stores and bars. We do not support general domination of profit. As for responsible parenting, a parent who allows his child to drink, is an unresponsible parent, and health and social issues should be concern of whole society, and alcohol raises them. On the end, consuming alcohol inside private homes would also be a violation of this proposal, but no one would go to check this inside private homes. In other words, law iis valid for all cases and all places, but if parents want to give alcohol to their children, they could do it inside their homes. The law will go against it, but no one would go to check it, of course.

[note: Since this is an interpretation that should'nt be an official interpretation, it is not delivered by minister of health in the Congress, it is rather delivered in informal communication between MP from RDF and CPR leadership in Congress]

Message"We do support this bill, the fact that is that all alcohol should be only available for adults and not minors. But if you worry about minors purchasing alcohol then that is where the ID cards come in. As mentioned by us before we want all citizens to be issued with an ID card which by law is required to be carried at all times. Shop ownerers will be able to ask for an ID if they are suspicious of a buyer being a minor therefore resolving the problem"
