| We here at the DSP believe that the issue of animals in research is a simple one, who's life and wellbeing do you value more, that of a pig, or of a human being? Socialism is about standing up for the common man, above all else. We believe, that in order to save human lives, and ensure human progress, some animals must be tested on. Because sometimes, a medecine will kill either a pig or a human being. And I do not think any party could claim that a pig or a goat's life is more important than the life of a sacred human being. Not without betraying the people. What distinguishes animals from humans? Humans have minds and feelings and lives in ways animals cannot achieve. Animals look out for their own kind against us, mauling us, eating us, attacking us, and we should take care of our own kind too. For otherwise, we commit a different kind of treason, a treason against the human race. Of course, there should be basic regulations, so that projects which are just cruel and serve no purpose are not allowed. But in general, we should allow animal testing to protect human beings. So let us say to protecting human beings, and no to placing animals above human beings. |
