Message | Absolutely not. We would support devolving decision-making authority over this issue to local governments, but we will not support federal government sponsorship of de facto parental structures that are incoherant with the existing and time-tested institution of the nuclear family unit; the cornerstone of our civilized society and the source of all social decency. Quite simply, the only family environment that can allow children a stable and healthy upbringing is that consisting of a married man and woman. The federal government should not condemn adopted children to a life of social exclusion and bullying, and, perhaps inevitably, homosexuality. |

Message | Many successful parents and happy children are the product of single-parent homes, whether it be a result of divorce, widowing, etc. To deny children the ability to have even one parent over none at all is immoral and inconsistent. |

Message | Even so, this proposal doesn't merely include singles in the right to adopt children - it includes everyone. Our major objection to the proposal was not that it allowed singles to adopt, it was that it allowed same-sex couples to adopt. |

Message | No, same-sex are already allowed to adopt. 'Couples' includes homosexual couples. |
