We would support devolving decision-making authority over this issue to local governments, but we will not support federal government sponsorship of de facto parental structures that are incoherant with the existing and time-tested institution of the nuclear family unit; the cornerstone of our civilized society and the source of all social decency. Quite simply, the only family environment that can allow children a stable and healthy upbringing is that consisting of a married man and woman. The federal government should not condemn adopted children to a life of social exclusion and bullying, and, perhaps inevitably, homosexuality. |
