Message | Why not devolve this to local governments, who are closer to the areas in question and can therefore better determine the proper course of action? |

Message | It's not a matter for local governance but of police priority. The proposed change means a different approach throughout the nation. The local police force will decide which priority should be dealt with first. |

Message | How do you mean ? Local police is not the same as local government......It's the the local department of the national police. |

Message | First, someone destroyed the the compromise of a local police and a national and replaced it only a national one ... SO this law would only pertain to a national police force. VBD: "The local police force will decide which priority should be dealt with first." - this doesn't exist under the current laws because there is no local police. Second, this law that you are advocating does absolutely nothing to prevent crime nor enforce laws. How do we know? Because it says so! There is no police presence in the streets; the VBD also speaks of "priorities" for law enforcement, well, it has been proven that saturation in areas by police limits crime in those areas, but there is no need to end any form of presence in non "priority" areas which this proposal advocates. Finally, there is an option for national police presence policy stating: "Presence of the police is left to the local governments." If the VBD is so dedicated to this idea of "priorities" and one cannot disagree that local authorities are more attuned the problems in their local than a larger natinoal element, than it would be a wiser idea for local government to decide on how the police are dispersed. |
