Message | Strongly opposed. We feel the proposed change to be the most unwise and irresponsible position on this issue. However, we would like to suggest a compromise that would fulfill part of what the Reform Party might be seeking here. From the bill's title, "Budgetary Rethinking Act", we're inferring that the Reform Party's goal in this bill, is to reduce the government spending that is currently going toward these refugees. Our preferred position on this issue is "Only refugees that are victims of extreme circumstances are welcome; they are given integration-aid." Implementing this would considerably reduce the number of foreigners admitted to our nation, and thereby reduce the total amount of taxpayer money being given to help to integrate them. True refugees fleeing from true persecution would continue to be welcome, and to be successfully integrated into our nation's society; while those who falsely claim to be refugees would be turned away at the border, with the further result that no money will be going to them. By contrast, the currently proposed "All refugees are welcome but no financial aid is given to them", we feel to be the worst possible position on this issue; since what this would lead to, would be the growth of a foreign underclass here, unassimilated and alienated and growing restive, likely leading eventually to domestic strife. This leaves us vulnerable to unnecessary unrest, while helping neither the true refugees nor us native Kirlawans. |
