Bill: The Religious Schools Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Dranland First Party (CC)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2673
Description[?]:
The Dranland First Party believes it is important that only recognized religions be allowed to establish schools in Dranland. The primary reason for this is to ensure that dangerous cults and extremist sects, such as the many extremist Islamic groups, are not allowed to form schools where they would be able to preach their agendas and recruit children for their violent causes. Islamic schools are often the hubs of terrorist recruitment, as they capitalize on impressionable children and brainwash them for their subversive agendas. We will not allow this in Dranland - we do have a large Muslim population, and so this is a very real threat that needs to be addressed. The religions that will be recognized by the government who may establish schools will be as follows: - Christianity of any denomination - Catholicism - Judaism |

Message | Catholicism falls under Christianity of any denomination... Also the NBP sees little difference between these competing strains of brainwashing techniques, taking advantage of the undeveloped reasoning skills of children to keep their 'tradition' alive. What parties would be in favor of religious schooling only becoming available at high school and onward? |

Message | When we say 'Christianity of any denomination' we are referring to protestant denominations only. Catholicism should be considered a different strain of religion to protestant Christianity - they are markedly different in many ways. This is why we have distinguished between them in the list. We do not understand the objection that most parties have to this legislation. It is hardly controversial to suggest that we should restrict the ability of extremist groups to establish schools for their own recruitment purposes. |

Message | And Mormonism falls under Christianity of any denomination? The NBP only inquires because many protestants believe them, and Catholics for that matter, to be non-Christian. It's absurd. This is a self-serving measure to monopolize the DFP's voter base, and to secure their ideology to future generations. Where are the religions less mild than Christianity, like Buddhism, Taoism, etc? |

Message | Aye, as the NBP says. Ba'hai? Confucism? Zoroastrianism? Deism? Shintoism? What of Greek or Roman Paganism? Nordic Paganism? Wicca? Satanism? These are all as peaceful in general as the likes of Christianity or Judaism. What becomes of them running schools? Regardless, the question is not who can run a school peacefully; it is the question of punishing crime if it occurs, not attempting to prevent it by stomping liberty. |
