Bill: An Act to secure Selucia (UPS)
Details
Submitted by[?]: Imperial Democratic Coalition
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2676
Description[?]:
1. The term 'serious emergencies' seems fairly vaguely defined, and would perhaps make it easy for military leaders to be prosecuted when they believed themselves to be performed merely their duties. Thus, we would propose, more simply, that the military may reinforce the police wherever it is necessary for the cost-effective maintenance of public safety. 2. Those who oppose our will have no right to possess life in this realm. Hence, all of them should be terminated immediately. 3. Visitors, whilst a novelty, are a cause of severe security problems for our nations intelligence and security forces. We must oppose the current simplicity of access available to foreigners entering our nation. 4. For the better protection of Selucia, a streamlined military is in order. Clearly, the most effective military consists entirely of female guardians of the realm. |

Message | We oppose all articles. 1. Actually, the qualifier of "serious emergencies" I think implies higher up governmental authorization, so the old law has less of a chance of military leaders' being blamed for overstepping their bounds than the vaguer "backed up" condition, wherein military actions will be more common and subject to less oversight. 2. This has enormous potential to backfire amongst groups of more questionably prisoners of war. Civilians' being accidentally held captive for a few months is much less catastrophic on a foreign relations scale than their being accidentally executed. 3. Tourism is one of our largest economic sectors and is what Selucia is famed for all across Terra. It would be a cultural tragedy and a grave economic mistake to effectively end tourism. 4. We do not see any good reason for this. |
