Bill: Gun Ownership Bill 2709

Details

Submitted by[?]: Rutanian Elitist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2710

Description[?]:

The Republican Elitist Party considers that after the terrorist attack the government should take some measures.
This bill would not restrict very much the liberties of the citizens but obtaining a gun would become more difficult. Besides, gun owners would be easier to follow in situations similar to the recent attack.

Gen. Victor Asriel,
Department of Public Order, REP

MessageWe are in support of this bill. We're not trying to restrict the people's rights, just secure their right to life. As the IP stated, this would also make it easier to track gun owners.

MessageOne of the pillars of our platform is the right to freely own a weapon. President Cooper has said he would not use the terrorist attack to infringe on the rights of the citizens. Therefore, we cannot support this bill.

MessageAs we sated in our much earlier gun ownership bill, times have changed. There is no reason to own certain firearms. Certain people have given up their right to gun ownership when they comitted crimes against the people of the Commonwealth. We understand that the OP is pro-people's rights, and we respect that, but they must understand that we at the NEP are for the advancment of people's saftey, and the gun control issue leads right to the heart of it.

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.
