Bill: New Tax Code

Details

Submitted by[?]: Alorian Populist Party (DemCoa)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2712

Description[?]:

It is my party's opinion that Government spending should be at least 20% of the GDP. THese taxes would give us the revenue to do that (combined with the sales and corporate taxes).

I remind my fellow parties that this is a progressive and marginal tax code, meaning that when you see a number like 75% it doesn't mean 3/4 of someones full income, just 3/4 of what they make above 18,000. For more information, look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marginal_tax#Marginal.

I don't mean to insult anyone's intelligence in saying this, but I have played with parties before who didn't know that so I just wanted to clear it up before we begin debating things. I assume that everyone already knew this, so these comments are irrelevant.

Now, the average Alorian makes about 4500 ALO. Under this tax code, an Alorian with such an income would pay 180 in taxes, which is 4 percent of their total earnings.

Meanwhile, Mr. Moneybags who makes 21,000 a year would pay a total of a little of 7800, or about 40% of their earnings.

Meanwhile, a middle (really an upper middle class, comfortable, leisure class) Alorian making 11,000 would pay 20% of their income, which is exactly the percent of the national income (really a little less) that we'd be taxing.

So this is a very progressive tax code that puts the biggest burden on the wealthy, very little on the average Alorian and some burdens on the leisure class.

Please debate

I don't plan on putting this up for a vote until the Progressive pass some legislation having to do with projects and policies that require more funding, which is this tax code is supossed to pay for

MessageI like it. Now we just need a spending bill to match. Education funding needs to be multiplied by 4 at least
