Status[?]: defeated

Voting deadline: June 2714

Description[?]:

The Alorian Populist Party (PrCoa) propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the Democratic Republic of Aloria.

The Alorian Populist Party (PrCoa) propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Democratic Republic of Aloria.

To end the Depression, we need more spending, more spending by consumers and by government to increase demand. Also, we need to cut taxes for the average, poor, working and middle class Alorians, also to encourage demand and consumer spending.

I understand that these two don't reconcile. While Aloria has a history of avoiding deficit spending, and I wish for that to continue, the current Depression demands and warrant and exception to this rule. The deficit spending is only a temporary measure, and it is a necessary one.

MessageRationale: This puts our spending at 40% deficit (assuming the tax bill passes, the one I proposed) and puts us at 20% deficit assuming it doesn't While we don't like deficits, to get us out of depression, its necessary. All told, both bills would make the deficit just under 11% of the total Alorian economy, while the spending on its own would put it at 4%.

The bulk of the increases in spending are in Infrastructure, Health and Human Services, and Trade and Industry. Industry is so that this government can have the funds available to provide relief to the industries in need, particularly the ones we have nationalized. Human Services to extend the social safety net that is needed in any depression due to more need. And Infrastructure increases are traditional economic stimulus, get people jobs, and get them moving. This also increases agriculture to provide relief in that sector.

All told, this stimulus is 56 billion ALO (assuming Aloria's economy is similar to that of the USA, then its equvalent to about 448 billion dollars). Add this to the costs of the Tax cuts I propose, then this stimulus costs 136 billion (1 trillion US dollars).

MessageNever mind this bill. President Johnson's spending bill is already set to pass, so disregard this one as his spends more (though I would like to go back later and make some cuts from his foreign affairs proposals).

MessageI do think we should still pass the tax cuts though.
