Message | The CCC opposes national regulation of this contentious issue. The question of abortion touches deeply on shared philosophical beliefs and, if prohibited, should be done so by the local community. |

Message | Yes but when do human rights kick in. What is the definition of a human? I would consider a beating heart and a functioning brain to be quite close. I place no religiouse beliefs in this bill but simply Human rights. |

Message | As the CMP notes, this is a highly contentious issue and we feel the decision is best left up to the individual mother who will be undergoing the abortion. |

Message | Ok, but when the mother risks to harm the 'human rights' of her child, her free choice about the abortion is limited, no? |

Message | This comes back to the highly contentious question of the definition of personhood. There would be little point in arguing this since from experience I know it tends to be rather pointless. However, I consider an unborn fetus to be essentially part of the mother's body and not a seperate entity with "rights" of its own, and I think if you do try to recognise the fetus as having the full rights and legal status of a human being, you start getting into extremely sticky territory. |

Message | Avoiding something because it is seemingly sticky is simply cowardice. Some "sticky" situations need to be acted upon. I don't think it is a crazy law that abortion be done in the first trimester. I am not making abortion altogether illegal but simply limiting it. |
