| Colleagues, We recognize that this has been debated many times before in the National Forum. All arguments are known. So we don't wish to repeat them again. We are introducing this vital legislation because we believe that the parties who oppose it no longer command enough votes to block its passage. |

Old value:: Police officers may only carry non-lethal weapons.
Current: Police officers may only carry non-lethal weapons apart from specially trained firearms units.
Proposed: Police officers carry standard firearms.
