MessageAs part of a wider initiative to ensure that taxation is completely decentralized, the AP would only support this bill if it proposed taxation of religious institutions to be determined only at a local level.

MessageDestructive power? The current laws ensure that people aren't being exploited by corrupt religious institutions. This allows churches to function, but it doesn't allow the pastor to buy a new mansion and sports car, and adds incentive for them to engage in charitable acts.

MessageChange the bill to ensure that local jurisdictions formulate tax law and you would have our vote. For now we vote no.

MessageIndeed, but we desire all taxes to be lowered. Religion cannot be spared for some special reason. If taxes on churches are lowered, so it should be for businesses and individuals.

MessageWe feel that religions should be taxed, they make a great deal of money and that money is not, necessarily, spent for the public good. Many religions own land and buildings and they should have to pay tax.
