Message"Mr Larkin,

Since this is just a tax system that will ultimately make the budget lose 6 bn ZAR, this is mostly a zero-zero tax policy change.

We in the Conservative Christian Alliance would like the finance department to offer us a flatter tax-system. We certainly see a tax system as flat as possible the best we can achieve. To secure economic growth and a sound economy, we would like the tax-code to be as flat as possible...I believe we are not alone when it comes to this matter, as our economy is one of the major fundamentals of a society. Economy and national defence should always be our major focuses and with the national defence issue receiving a lot of focus lately, it's time to look at the economy.

If not an all-round flat tax-code is possible. We would agree to a change which would bring about lower taxes for the absolute poorest to create incentive and make more people work rather than staying on welfare. And then create a flat tax for the rest. Certainly a progressive tax system is not what the C.C.A is wanting, we would a fair, equal and economically sound income tax policy."

Message"Mr. Larkin, with all due respect we've had a flat-tax system here for most of the last century and it has proven to be ineffectual in practice. Sure, we all like the catch-phrase 'flat-tax' though in reality as the more experienced parties will point out; our flat-tax was causing more harm than any measure of good. If the record were not clear on this, the F.R.P. would be in support of your suggestions and our economic advisers freely admit to the theory that a flat-tax works best. Alas though, it is a theory that has been proven incorrect for our Federation."

"I will second the motions that the nations national defense is of paramount. Though this is an issue to be discussed in the spending proposal and not here. As we see it, the honorable Minister of Finance Mr. Larkin has done a momentous job in presenting this proposal for the legislature to debate. The former party whom held your post Mr. Larkin did nothing but continue to let failing economic policies continue to go unchallenged. It may seem there are many demands and requests coming from the legislature-having the duties as Minister of Finance is no easy job and we commend you in your efforts."

"Our economic advisers have been studying this issue closely and are curious what the Finance Minister's projections would be on a three-tiered income tax bracket. Something to the effect of setting the income tax brackets to better adjust to the realities of our economy and not merely theory. Would the right honorable Minister Larkin be prepared to give us some projections on what the following sort of system would produce in respect to revenue. . ."

The assistant chairwoman of the F.R.P's economic council motioned for her aide to put up the chart outlining the proposals the Federal-Republican's economic council wished to see projections for.

>24,500$ - 5-7%
>150,000$ - 9-12%
>400,000$ - 13-14%

or

>24,500$ - 5-7%
>250,000$ - 9-12%
>400,000$ - 13-14%

(OOC: If you can plug those numbers in and post back respectively the revenue, that will be great!)

Message"To answer all question of the parties of the the directorate, a flat tax has been in use for many years in our country, but that was under under the Capitalist Party's finance ministry. The UZLP believes in a progessive tax system, as those that prosper should take up the responsibility of helping their fellow man by taking more of the weight of the governments financial need. You may call this socialism, but the UZLP calls this helping our brothers in times of need. The UZLP does agree with the CCA's point that lower taxes should be givin to the Poorer of our citizens and I will revise my tax system to reflect that belief. As to answer The FRP's concerns and inquires the project amount that your sujested budget would give would be aproximatly 394,677,000,000 ZAR as it as been projected that noone in Zardugal currently makes more then 200,000 Zar yearly.
I respectivly thank you for your questions and concerns and ask if you have any following questions or concerns to please present them at the next meeting for my next tax proposal.
Mr. Larkin
Minister of Finance.

MessageOOC: Hey, no problems. Real life gets the best of us all anyway! Before you make another; throw this one to a vote just in case....

IC:

"With all due respect Minister Larkin, it is those who appear to wish to penalize that are the very ones who are the employers of the fellow men in which you desire to help. In an Utopian world, an economic policy such as that might be coherent. Though again out of all due respect, the bulwark of our governments revenue comes from the middle-class wage earners of Zardugal; the real grit of the people!"

"And sure, the idea that we can 'level the field' and 'help our brothers out' sounds nice; and you'd be hard pressed to find someone opposed to such measures. Though again with all due respect, we are in troubled times and not as fit as we could be economically and this is the key point. Government spending should reflect our governments agenda and not the domestic situation. Domestic expenditures and shortfalls are more than covered in their already burgeoning budgets. . ."

"An income tax-bracket that is hastily put together that doesn't allow for flexibilities in the constant fluctuations in the international markets is an exercise in futility. I know Minister Larkin knows his stuff but, I think we are merely viewing this through different prisms. I hope what I've said today clarifes or helps you in looking at this through another lens. . ."
