Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2129
Description[?]:
Slander, as so often practiced by IPE and NU ;-), is damaging to people's reputations and so simple a tool for the malicious to use. We want to ensure that the courts have a workable definition of it to try cases with. So that proven lies are slander. And that unprovable hysterical claims can also be considered slander, so long as harm was intended. I would also like the libel law (printed slander) to be in line with this proposal. But the closest option is "Individuals may sue over falsehoods and defamatory opinions printed on them". Without malice, this could be misused and so we will leave it as it is. |
