MessageJust keeping up with inflation, by allocating our surplus, which just crept above a trillion KDI this month.

Recently, Education & Culture spending had already been boosted separately; so we have excluded it here, and have increased the funding for all other ministries proportionally. (We would have raised Education & Culture from 4000 billion to 4320 billion, but it's already at 5500 billion.)

This does leave the budget with a small temporary deficit of about 300 billion.
However, that deficit is easily covered by our current and recent surpluses ... given inflation, it will shrink with time, and be gone in two or three years ... and even now it's less than a third of one percent of GDP, so it shouldn't be a problem.

According to UPK's Fiscal Responsibility Act, ratified 2864:
> If passed, the governmnet of Kirlawa will never have a
> budget deficit that exceeds 20% of the nations GDP.

A temporary one-third of a percent should be OK. :)

MessageI take no issue with the budget and no issue with a deficit. The money is there to be used for the benefit of our citizens, occasionally this will require spending in to deficit, and no government should apologise for that.

MessageWe would feel slightly more comfortable without deficit spending when it isn't needed to keep the economy going, but as the KPJP pointed out this is hardly worth mentioning. Our caucus will be happy to give this bill its blessing.
