MessageRt Hon Duchess Thompson MP:

Mr Speaker, once again, our nation finds itself under threat by fascism. We have been in this situation before, but even before, the situation was not as dire as this. We now have two fascist parties in this parliament, and one of them is now the largest party, something that has not been seen since the restoration. Mr Speaker, we cannot stand idly by and allow this country to be divided and made to feel fear and terror everywhere they go.

Mr Speaker, we must not forget that the last time the Ultranationalists held prominence in this land, terrorism swept, people were set against people, and the nation was in a state of emergency. But then, Mr Speaker, the force of unity between the democratic parties defeated the politics of terror, and the nationalists fell. Mr Speaker, I do not doubt that this occurred because of the democratic coalition that was formed. And I come here today to propose that such a thing should be formed again.

Mr Speaker, the CLP, the CEP, the NSP and the URR are all completely different parties with different ideas of what constitutes a great society. Indeed, the way in which we define democracy, and the extent to which we would grant it, also differs. But uniting us is a rejection of the politics of fear and divisiveness, and a general acceptance that the people of this country should not live in a state of terror. We believe that at some level, the people should have a say in the way in which the country should be run, rather than having an oppressive and authoritarian state making every decision for them. Mr Speaker, it is for these reasons that this Cabinet will ensure that Hutori remains free today.

Mr Speaker, unusually for a party leader, I do not intend to take part in this Cabinet, and as will be seen, I propose only one seat for the CLP, that of Lord Protector. Mr Speaker, the previous democratic coalitions were led by my predecessor, Duke Major. His canny ability to foresee political events led him to seek a parliamentary seat at the last election, having been retired for many many years. He knew Mr Speaker, that the return of the nationalists was made Hutori a far more dangerous place, and also knew that this time, they could prove more successful. Mr Speaker, apart from being a member of the Party Leadership Committee, he holds no other position within the CLP. As Lord Protector (or Prime Minister) he would not involve himself in party or parliamentary politics at all, seeking instead to govern a united coalition, dedicated to ensuring the safety of the people, and the guarding of their basic rights and liberties. Mr Speaker, Duke Major is an esteemed politician, and the fact that he is willing to return to politics should be commended and desired by all. His experience in combatting fascism and terrorism should not be ignored, and I sincerely hope that all choose to support this coalition.

Mr Speaker, we all know how different the four parties are. Under other circumstances, I cannot imagine proposing that a party that seeks the overthrow of the monarchy should be in government! But this is a serious time Mr Speaker, and we must unite to ensure that democracy can survive. Mr Speaker, I hope that this government proposal passes this House swiftly.

[OOC: The only reason the GKF and the NAP are excluded is because of their relative inactivity at the moment which would stall this proposal!]

MessageFascism is a political ideology that seeks to combine radical and authoritarian nationalism with a Corporatist economic system. We are Socialists. We are Nationalists not Fascists. We oppose all forms of Corporatocracy. Margaret Thompson has proven herself to be nothing but a corporate whore.

MessageRt Hon Michael Heslop MP, Lord Privy Seal and Justice Secretary:

Mr Speaker, as this House is now aware, my Right Honourable friend Duchess Thompson is currently...'on leave'...due to circumstances beyond her control. I hope that she will be back with us extremely shortly. Mr Speaker, I am sure that you will consider the words of the nationalist spokesman to not be in keeping with parliamentary language, but I know that if my Right Honourable friend were here, she would be extremely keen to correct the gentleman for his gross mistake, that of getting her name wrong. Of course, Mr Speaker, before her retirement as Prime Minister, the Duchess was known as "Melanie" rather than Margaret, but since her retirement, she should be given the respect that she is do by recognising her title. I know, Mr Speaker, that it is the mistake of her name that would concern the Duchess far more than any other vicious name-calling.
