Message | Mr Speaker, I don't quite understand what the honourable gentleman means by "a single round of instant-runoff voting". Does he mean the First Past The Post system? |

Message | Mr Speaker, it is surprising that the NSP should wish to propose such a level of intervention in the running of local government. I support very much the term limits being enshrined in law, but this Party cannot support the national government dictating to every single authority the method of election that they should use. Mr Speaker, the CLP is a great advocate of the first past the post system, but we would not compel all areas to use it. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, the NSP is usually the party proposing devolving important decisions to local governments. Our party is presently undecided on this bill, and we are curious as to why the NSP thinks this is an important enough proposal to warrant otherwise. |

Message | Mr Speaker, this bill is necessary to combat certain constitutional amendments which have entrenched demagogues in some local councils. |

Message | Mr Speaker, we acknowledge the reason behind this bill, but we cannot understand why a certain voting system has been favoured. Surely such a system is just as likely to entrench demagogues than any other, if not more so. |

Message | Mr Speaker, we will sit down in committee and hash out a more acceptable act. For now, this act will stand. |
