MessageRt Hon Margaret Moore MP, Finance Secretary:

Madam Speaker, I am delighted to come to this House today to announce the budget that shall be employed by the first ever United Movement Cabinet. Madam Speaker, this tax proposal shall better address the financial situation of Hutori today.

Madam Speaker, I am delighted to announce that this budget will decrease the amount of revenue that is taken by the tax collector. It is healthy, Madam Speaker, for the state to trust people with their own money.

Madam Speaker, this tax proposal will ensure that all those earning under 25,000HLR will be exempt from income tax. I am sure all will agree, Madam Speaker, that this will benefit the poorest in our society by allowing them further freedom with the money in their pockets. Furthermore, Madam Speaker, the 22% tax band is raised to those earning over 60,000HLR with a new tax band being created for those earning between 40,000 and 60,000. Madam Speaker, a gradual progression like this will encourage aspiration and not put people off reaching for the lofty heights of income. Madam Speaker, no person in Hutori shall have more than 22% of their income going directly to state coffers, continuing the low tax tradition that has been prevalent in Hutori over the decades.

Madam Speaker, I commend this budget to the House.

Random quote: On 7th February 4281 a group of renowned Metzist experts from all across Terra met in Haldor to form the International Committee for the Estimation of the End Date of Capitalism (ICEEDC). With the assistance of a powerful computer, they calculated that capitalism will terminate Terra-wide on 6th November 4320, and in Dorvik on April 17th 4310. We have no reason whatsoever to believe these very eminent and learned scholars are wrong. They have never been wrong about anything before. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer, General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party
