Message | Hmmmm.......there are certain things that contribute to education but cannot be realistically approached by purely private companies. |

Message | you mean certain things in "education" like how to be a good citizen? television doesnt contribute to education at all, radio too. if there is market for such things cool, but education is the job of the parents and the school they send their children too. not of the media. |

Message | Its call PUBLIC SERVICE BOARDCASTING It is NOT STATE RUN, we have it in the UK. PBS is important, teleivsion can be a tool for great educational programmes, documentaries and the like, instead of the brain dead television you obviously watch. THE BBC HAS A LOT OF POLITICAL PROGRAMMES, LIKE QUESTION TIME, NEWSNIGHT, THIS WEEK, DAILY POLITICS, DRAGONS EYE and they ALL CAN BE CRITICAL OF THE GOVERNMENT AND ARE CRITICAL OF THE GOVERNMENT, OPPISITION PARTIES AND UNBIAS. You obviously are clueless on this and I wonder how many other things you are cluelss about |

Message | OK. Let's say there's a television programme on ecology. Now, a private TV channel might report on stuff closer to home, but it wouldn't do the wildlife on Kanjor - it's a long way away and the Arctic climate is inhospitable. The money would mean it's a non-profitable venture. However, with government subsidies, such educational programmes are possible. |
