Details

Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: January 2960
Description[?]:
The Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu prides itself on understanding and respecting all peoples of all faiths. The Christian Imperial Party has marred that, and we wish to correct their mistake. This act has as its reference and inspiration the law "Religious Reform, January 2869" (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=274934). Article 1: As of the passing of this law, the official religion of the Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu is Judaism. This is based on the historical and ethnic composition of the nation, seeing as we are culturally Jewish. However, membership is completely voluntary, and membership does not entitle someone to special treatment from the government or any such thing, just as non-membership does not mean someone will be treated with less respect than someone who is Jewish. Article 2: The following religions are de jure (by law) recognized by the Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu: - Agnosticism - Ahl-e Haqq (Yârsân) - Atheism - Ayyavazhi - Bahá'í Faith - Buddhism - Cao Đài - Cheondoism - Christianity - Confucianism - Gnosticism - Hinduism - I-Kuan Tao (Yīguàn Dào) - Islam - Jainism - Judaism - Manichaeism - Mazdak - Neopaganism - "New Age" - Rastafari - Samaritanism - Seicho-no-Ie - Sikhism - Shinto - Taoism - Tenrikyo - Unitarian Universalism - Yazidi (Yezidi) - Zoroastrianism - No preference; non-religious Article 3: The Commonwealth of Yishelem and Beiteynu guarantees freedom of religion to all individuals. There are some exceptions: - The religion in question cannot engage in human sacrifice, or any other crime. Animal sacrifice is allowed, but must be done in accordance with local health codes. - The government does not recognize religion as an excuse to endanger the health of others, i.e. refusing healthcare to elderly/children in someone's care. Only the person in question may refuse healthcare for themselves. Article 4: Even if a religion is not de jure recognized by the government, the government gives any religion permission to consider itself de facto recognized and to submit itself for de jure recognition as long as it does not violate Article 3 of this law. Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current. |
