Message | What makes the police different from the military if they use the same weapons? |
Date | 21:41:48, November 12, 2005 CET | From | Herut Orthodoxy | To | Debating the Police Equipment Bill |
Message | What makes them different? 1) They are not run by the Ministry of Defense 2) Police are still civilians 3) Police still require warrants, etc. 4) Police are still responsible to the individual communities they represent The biggest difference is rather than having Special Weapons and Tactics teams which take time to assemble and deploy (though these would still exist), the actual police on the scene have the capability to contain violence and criminals before the situation gets completely out of hand and more innocents are affected. |
