Message | OOC: I'd drop the "of the Federal Republic of Solentia" pieces, but that's just me... IC: "Mr. Premier, The CPS finds the 'Lord Protector' title to be ethereal at best. It is a relic of monarchism which has never, and will never, be accepted tradition or government in the Federal Republic of Solentia. Just as the FHE obstructs tradition in order to maintain the 'Presidency' and 'Premiership,' the Unionist and Whig continuation of the 'dual government' issue is impeding a return to sanity for Solentia. The Whigs' brazen threats in the debate of FIP SR 222 are telling: This is a bloc which will stop at no line to achieve their ends. An admittance of the title of 'Lord Protector' now will be an admittance of landed aristocracy and hereditary monarchy tomorrow. The proper Solentian tradition is Supreme Presidency supported by Senate Wardenship; there is no room for aristocratic titles in Solentia or Solentian government! No to this proposal!" Message | "Mr. Premier, One final comment: The CPS was under the impression from the Unionist-maintained Supreme President List (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=234675) that the unification of Solentia was complete. There is no government in Calydon. President Bayless is my President, is he the President of the Unionist and Whig parties, or are they still embracing monarchist separatism? I yield the floor." Message | OOC: The Supreme President List is OOC and is never complete. Althought it doesn't list the Lord Protector's beyond Woolsingham (as none of the followers used the title after him), it does still list the current heads of state under the Duel Governance section. IC: "As has already been explained, the title Lord Protector is a defensive one designed to protect the Solentian citizenry and legislature from tyranny; nuncirist, communist, absolute monarchist or otherwise. The Senate Warden, we feel, is only empowered by this Act to carry an additional duty of monitoring Executive power. I see no harm in that as long as the Presidential authority is supreme once more. I also note that the CPS may object to titles, however this Government does recognise titles by means of the Social Incentive and Titles Act 3041 (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=306870)."
