Message | Mr. Speaker, We feel this is the most likely coalition that would co-operate successfully in order to guide Hutori towards economic and social prosperity. We, the Social Democrats, feel that an SDP-LAB alliance would be progressive and would implement key reforms of the Hutorian state to get this nation back on its feet. The SDP must declare that, as a centrist party, we found it extremely difficult to choose between Labour and the Conservatives. A CON-SDP coalition would have dominated this house, and feel that this would have been unfair to. We want to empower the House of Parliament while at the same time have an effective government. We were also unsure where any agreement would come from in a coalition between the Conservatives and ourselves - except on the economy to some extent. I sincerely hope that the Labour Party agrees to our proposed coalition. |

Message | Rt Hon Duke Liam Quinlan MP, HCP Leader, Mr Speaker, quoting the SDP members, "A CON-SDP coalition would have dominated this house, and feel that this would have been unfair to" Yes, Mr Speaker, a coalition made of the two parties deemed the most popular by the Hutorian public is unfair? The HCP were elected as the single biggest party and for the Hutorian public to be ignored like this would be shameful. The SPD say we only differ over economics - then why not a CON-SPD coalition who agree to keep all economic legislation as the status quo for this parliament? That seems to be the logical solution and i hope the SPD agree and enter into government with us. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Governments with smaller majorities are more accountable to the House of Parliament as the opposition gains more power and is more effective in its role as a check on the executive. Our membership is unsure whether the SDP or its supporters would be ready to work with the Conservative Party who are traditionally centre-right/right-wing - such a coalition, as we would be the junior party, may have an undesirable effect. Mr. Speaker, the Conservatives are wrong. We, in fact, have a lot in common with their economic policy, it is on the matters of defence, ecology etc. that we have stark differences. The Conservatives, we recall, were abosulutely against our neutrality proposal - how could parties that disagree in such a way possibly work together? I would like to ask what the Conservatives would wish to implement as there is very little policy that would make a significantly improvement to Hutorian society that both our parties could agree on? An SDP-LAB alliance would be more of a natural coalition. Our parties share similar positions on basically over policy area other than the economy - significantly more similarities than those that we share with the Conservatives. (OOC: We should keep arguements for/against an CON-SDP coalition in the CON-SDP coalition bill page) |

Message | Rt Hon Duke Liam Quinlan MP, HCP Leader, Well, Mr Speaker, at least the SDP have had the decency to admit why they favour this coalition proposal to the one with the HCP. They say, and i quote "such a coalition, as we would be the junior party, may have an undesirable effect." Mr Speaker, their opposition is not over policies etc. it is the fact that they want to maximise their individual power! They dont care about the peoples opinions or policies, the fact is that they want a party to prop up an SDP Prime Minister. They have said themselves how similar in nature the SDP and HCP are so what is the problem? It is the SDP's power grabbing antics that are holding back this nation at present and for that reason they should be ashamed. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Why have the Conservatives suddenly changed their tone? They propose a coalition between us and then launch verbal attacks against our party.. This isn't a matter of gain for the SDP, it is a decision that we have to make, we, the SDP, must judge whether working with Labour or the Conservatives would take Hutori in the right direction. The majority of our party favours working with the Labour Party, and such attacks against the SDP will only strengthen this position. We have stated numerous times why we would prefer to work with Labour. |

Message | Rt Hon Duke Liam Quinlan MP, HCP Leader, Mr Speaker, the tone changes simply because of the admission made by the SDP. They can either choose to align themselves with the communists in the Labour Party or the progressives in the HCP. If they support widespread nationalization, state-run medias etc. then feel free to join the communist Labour Party. Mr Speaker, Hutori needs a new government - there is none in place now. The country is grinding to a standstill - perhaps the SPD better hurry up and form a government before Hutorians despise them for taking this state backwards through inaction over petty issues. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The Conservatives no for a fact that the SDP would not support nationalisation. We are not a socialist party, or a communist party for that matter. |
