Bill: Copyright Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Reform Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2144

Description[?]:

Our current laws on the protections of origonal works of art and technology give a great disadvantage to private citizens. As of now, we provide only limited copy protection, which is not sufficient to protect designs made by our citizens. We must provide our citizens with the protection of a full copyright.

MessageI'm voting no not because of who proposed it but because the ICP believes in moderation. We believe that currently the copyright protection is enough and increasing it will only lead to more monopolies. Monopolies are bad, whether government run at one extreme or privately run at the other.

All descriptive texts and public communications should be in English or at least appear alongside a full English translation.
