Message | Nuclear power is not an option but should be a requirement. Nuclear power can be done safely and effectively. We cannot be afraid of something that isn't anymore dangerous than a coal or oil power plant. Nuclear fuel can be stored in regions of low geological activity or research could be done to move these spent fuel piles into space using magnetic technologies. The use of nuclear power will be a large initial cost, however it will yield much cheaper energy production after being in operation. |

Message | There isn't a 100% guarantee that nuclear power can always be done safely, Plus, a nuclear dysfunction is far, far more dangerous than an oil or coal dysfunction. Here in Germany the government has just agreed to shut down all nuclear power within 10 years and currently 30% of our electricity is nuclear and in my area its probably about 45%. Anyway, the reason why the chose to get rid of nuclear power is simple- its just not reliable or trustworthy. If something goes wrong with a nuclear power plant, it would take many decades for everything in the area to be normal again. |

Message | Our concern with nuclear power, apart from its dangers if accidents were to occur, is that there is no established method of permanent disposal for nuclear waste. So we cannot agree to this. |
Date | 03:56:30, June 27, 2011 CET | From | New Aloria Party (NAP) | To | Debating the Energy Conservation and Equity Act |
Message | We will agree to nuclear power but, strict oversight must be allowed to prevent any mishaps or accidents. |
Date | 06:53:00, June 27, 2011 CET | From | Social Democrats Union | To | Debating the Energy Conservation and Equity Act |
Message | It doesn't matter who strict or how soft the oversight is, nuclear power is extremely dangerous and we cannot afford to put strain upon generations and generations of citizens who have to deal with the consequences of a nuclear meltdown. |
Date | 19:12:27, June 27, 2011 CET | From | New Aloria Party (NAP) | To | Debating the Energy Conservation and Equity Act |
Message | If we stopped doing every little thing because of the accidents that could happen, Aloria would be the mud on the shoes of other nations. This nation is becoming a leader in technology. |
Date | 23:28:47, June 27, 2011 CET | From | Unified Scientists Party | To | Debating the Energy Conservation and Equity Act |
Message | As with anything, we must continue to enforce strong safety standards in nuclear compliance. While nuclear energy is very efficient and one of the biggest resources we can use for thousands of years, we cannot allow businesses to try to make a little extra money off of it. Strict enforcement of the safety guidelines is extremely important. Also, investment in the engineering behind the safety would help alleviate problems. GPA: I understand the waste is a problem, the main difference between fossil fuel power is that that waste is put into the environment a "seemingly" has no impact. Our environment can only take so much. While in the nuclear field, we can store it safely without any of it reaching the environment. We shouldn't be afraid of this, only be ready to invent the next technology to help the industry. |
Date | 02:00:20, June 28, 2011 CET | From | Social Democrats Union | To | Debating the Energy Conservation and Equity Act |
Message | The real problem is not the waste or how much the environment can take or the technological advances, it is the dangerous side effects of nuclear power. If a coal power station or an electrical substation has a malfunction the effects would be there for no more than a few months and then everything is normal again. But, with a nuclear power malfunction, the radiation is there for decades or sometimes even centuries, most people who lived near there get cancer, their children are born with deformities and the area is uninhabitable for many decades too. It is not a risk we should try. PP, I would like to point out to you that nobody would be a mud on on anybody's shoes (whatever that means). If you look at it in real life (yes I know this is fiction but look at it in real life for now) like I said before, here in Germany our nuclear power will be gone by 2022. And we are a world leader in technology, Japan is probably the only nation ahead of us in technology. And yet, just because we are getting rid of our nuclear power does not mean we are going backwards in technology. |

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
