Message"We see no reason, at this point, to offer any kind of support for Liberal policy. We are not inclined to favour any kind of compromise when the Liberals have declared ideological war on us."

Message"So, the true Christians have decided to put politics before the good of the people. They choose to be stubborn rather than lend a hand to humanity. I must say, this 'True' side to the 'True' Christians is severely disappointing."

Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party

Message"Two points worthy of mention.

First: Jesus said we should make sure we are without sin before we cast the first stone. The Liberals accusing us of partisanship is risible.

Secondly: We are putting the good of DELTARIAN people before our politics. We are putting DELTARIAN politics ahead of people outside Deltaria. That makes sense to us. Our people before our politics, our politics before other people, other people before other politics."

Message"Let me get this structure right... people are in poverty, stuck in war with no end in sight... but we have a disagreement with another party so we won't try to help. What kind of thinking is that? We have not committed any such violation of partisanship, we have performed a logical function of government, and that is to form it with parties that work with common goals and aims. The True Christians, as they have displayed in their handling of this issue and their policy put forward so far, do not share the same goals and aims - and that's why they were not included. You are free to pursue a dynamic opposition, but not at the expense of human lives, no matter where they are found."

Message"Actually, we are entirely free to pursue exactly what kind of agenda we like, even at the expense of human lives.

We are a Deltarian party, elected by Deltarians to represent them on Deltarian matters - and any good we do beyond those parameters is optional, and regulated by the will of the people.

This constant caterwauling about what might or might not be happening in some other sovereign territory... it's a smoke-screen. In THIS sovereign territory, we were elected to serve Deltarians. That's what is most important.

Frankly, we're shocked - and a little disgusted - that the Liberals would try to push that as a negative aspect."

Message"We believe that both is possible, and to limit ourselves and our nation to an either/or equation is a useless thing when we have the resources, drive and compassion to do it all in this instance."

Message"We'd rather see the money spent here, on Deltarians, who worked hard for it.

It's not that we disagree with giving help to those in need, but we have need here - and fixing our own problems probably won't drag us into some terrorist conflict in some other sovereign nation.

Sovereignty is important."

Message"Ah, here we go - http://classic.particracy.net/viewnews.php?newsid=291549&nation=36

An opinion poll was held among the citizens of the Federal Republic of Deltaria. The subject of the opinion poll was Government policy towards giving aid to foreign countries. When asked what their opinions were, the following choices were made:

24.28% The government never offers international aid
31.87% The government supplies "tied" aid to poorer nations in return for trading rights
22.11% The government only gives aid for disaster relief in foreign countries
7.99% The government gives moderate aid to countries in need
13.75% The government gives high levels of aid to countries in need.

Three quarters of Deltarians support giving minimal emergency aid, tied aid, or no aid. One quarter favour no aid.

Only about 20% support giving moderate aid or greater. Most Deltarians don't want this legislation."

Message"It's pretty much settled that this legislation is passing now - unless one or more parties suddenly abstain, for example.

So - we can assume we're going to 'moderate aid' (against the will of the nation, perhaps). If the trend reverses, we'll be there to support it."
