Bill: Cabinet Proposal of June 3171
Details
Submitted by[?]: Deltarian Liberal Movement
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 3172
Description[?]:
Since the formation of the True Christian's secondary cabinet, the Social Anarchy, Democratic and Liberal parties have served as Deltaria's most loyal opposition. The Liberal Party would now like to extend the offer to form Government with our fellow backbenchers - and to effect a cohesive and robust cabinet that will lead Deltaria into the future. We would appreciate these parties support in this proposal that allows for an allocation of cabinet positions and for an exercise of separation of powers. |

Message | "We will undoubtedly be asked about our position as Head of Government. You may not believe us, but this is a purely logical claim to the position. The Liberal Party has long noticed the trend, and strongly supported it, that the positions of Governor and Premier are distinct and separate in the Deltarian state. To that end, they have often been held by members of a different party - and with the Democratic Party holding the Governorship, we, as the next largest coalition party - would fill that role. We have tried to effect a reasonable compromise in handing both the Democrats and the Social Anarchists greater cabinet positions than our own - in case of any belief in bias regarding this matter." - Mary J. Andowin Leader of the Liberal Party |
Date | 02:36:52, August 24, 2011 CET | From | Deltarian True Christian Party | To | Debating the Cabinet Proposal of June 3171 |
Message | "Obviously, we'd hav preferred to see either some form of 'Unity Cabinet', or something that actually represented the distribution of electoral seats. To be honest, we're really not sure what the point of the constant Liberal attempts to grab power is supposed to be. If the Liberals want to be granted power in the Cabinet... why shouldn't they actually earn it by, for example, actually doing things the voters want? Backdoor politics just doesn't excite us, to be honest. Call us populist, but at least we're actually selling a product the voters want." DTCP |
Date | 03:02:17, August 24, 2011 CET | From | Progressive Party | To | Debating the Cabinet Proposal of June 3171 |
Message | "We can only hope that the Social Anarchists oppose this cabinet as being unfair. It seems that the Liberal Party is in no position to compromise with the Progressive Party simply because of our compromise with the True Christians. Our responsibility to the people of Deltaria should not be our downfall, your party is the irresponsible one." -Amy D. Kingsley (P) Chairwoman of the Board |
Date | 05:52:17, August 24, 2011 CET | From | Deltarian Liberal Movement | To | Debating the Cabinet Proposal of June 3171 |
Message | "Progressives - you replaced a functioning cabinet with another simply for so that you could gain greater influence on it. We did not wish to see this happen again, and that is why you were not counted as apart of this proposal, having shown a greater attachment to the Christian-lead Government rather than the moderate alternative - you could have once again jeopardized the cabinets position. Regardless of the outcome here, we will continue to serve in loyal opposition." - Mary J. Andowin Leader of the Liberal Party |
Date | 08:03:51, August 24, 2011 CET | From | Democratic Party | To | Debating the Cabinet Proposal of June 3171 |
Message | With Liberal Party of Deltaria we have long-term cooperation and good working relationships. We hope that Social Anarchy Party support this alternative. We are open for discussion with SAP about the positions in cabinet if they will have any suggestions. It is better alternative than govern of "Christians" with their authoritarianism. - Thomas Paul Thyssen Chairman of Democratic Party |
Date | 14:22:53, August 24, 2011 CET | From | Deltarian True Christian Party | To | Debating the Cabinet Proposal of June 3171 |
Message | "Except, DP, the "Christians" haven't governed in an authoritarian fashion. Instead, we pushed for pure democracy (and we're fought on that platform by you and the Liberals). We fought for representative government, and found a coalition with parties who were willing to put good governance before party politics. We sought only one Cabinet appointment. Perhaps most importantly - check our legislative history, and see what we've actually passed. A number of compromise bills. Our more 'extreme' agenda items? They don't become law. We're hardly the tyrants you paint us to be." DTCP |
