Message | While Labour fundamentally believes that the State could effectively provide public housing, we recognize that a majority of parties do not. However, no party could ignore or deny the fact that there is a need for reform. Without any kind of housing policy, there are no viable alternatives for those who could not afford market-rate housing. Real-estate tends to be very expensive in many large cities, and many find it difficult or impossible to afford housing. It is imperative that some housing reform be accomplished. In the interest of compromise, I offer that the State contract with private business to provide public housing. The government bidding process will allow us to keep costs down and still provide housing. This is a moral imperative and a flagship economic issue for Solentians everywhere. We should pass this bill. Senator Ryan Schroeder |

Message | This bill should be shown as the model of compromise in a fractured political era. Labour is right that we can other parties in the the "center-left" alliance would prefer the government paying or subsidizing for low income houseing. But the other parties will not. This is a good change, and can be ideologically supported by all. -Grace S. Lough |
