Bill: Call for early elections, March 3187

Details

Submitted by[?]: Coalition for National Unity [CNU]

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

Voting deadline: November 3187

Description[?]:

We, the Unionist Party, call for early elections as soon as we can reach a consensus.
The Unionist Party is bitterly disappointed that the Labour Party's Supreme President cannot form a working Government. Whilst normally, we are open to maintaining a Senate sitting unless seats are vacant, when we have no Finance Secretary, Foreign Secretary, Defence Secretary or Trade Secretary - there is a problem.

We urge the Supreme President to either declare an Executive Order creating a working cabinet or back early polls.

MessageThis is a sham. The Unionists know that the FIP refuses any cabinet. And the Unionists also know that they would refuse a cabinet that the FIP is not part of. The Unionists have actually compromised (unlike the rest of your right wing alliance), but you have put this president in an impossible situation. When the FIP used an excutive order to fill the cabinets before there was no stronger critics the the ULC or Labour. And the ULC believes that we should not stoop to the FIP level.

MessageIn my capacity as Supreme President, it was my responsibility to work to pass a cabinet. While I truly believe I made my best efforts, politics will inevitably derail even the best laid plans.

I am not a hypocrite. I was appreciative of learning about how executive orders work during the last legislative session, but I still hold respect for the idea of divided government. The fact that not enough parties in the Senate would work together disappointed me. But for the good of the country, these posts must be filled.

Therefore, I will not do something I would not like to see any other eventual Supreme President do. I will not issue an executive order.

After conferring with Senator Schroeder, we agree with that this proposal is the only logical next step, although we don't know if it will ultimately change anything.

If this vote we cast spells an end to my term as Supreme President, I will accept that and move on for the good of Solentia.

MessageIn a stroke of legislative brilliance the Unionists proposed early elections a few months before actual elections. The likeness of this passing before actual elections is slim. For many this maybe a wasted yes vote.

Random fact: Moderation will not approve a Cultural Protocol request within the first 48 hours of it being requested. This is in order to give other players a chance to query the proposed changes, if they wish to do so. Moderation may be approached for advice on a proposed change, but any advice proffered should always be understood under the provisio that no final decision will be made until at least 48 hours after the request has been formally submitted for approval.
