Bill: Immigration Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Rutania Freedom and Sovereignty Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 3246
Description[?]:
The RFSP believes that Rutania's current open-border policy with respect to legal immigration and refugees will inevitably be deleterious to social and cultural cohesion in this country; it will allow the formation of isolated and segregated ethnic enclaves, and tensions will inevitably emerge between Rutanian natives and disparate ethnic groups whose cultures are incompatible and irreconcilable with our own. The only way to protect against this perilous development is to stop the arrival of excessive numbers of migrants from cultural backgrounds incompatible with Rutanian culture, which can be achieved by implementing migrant quotas based on nationality of origin. Greater numbers of migrants from nations very similar in culture to Rutania should be accepted than migrants from nations whose cultures are very foreign, as the former will be much more easily absorbed. The RFSP's proposal for refugee policy reform is based on very similar grounds to those outlined above, but with the added rationale that illegal immigrants deliberately circumvent and undermine the legitimacy of Rutania's immigration laws and tend to bring with them the problems of their homelands, such as unemployment and crime. |
