Bill: The Humane and True Justice Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Partei des Demokratischen Merkantilismus
Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: March 3323
Description[?]:
As a civilized society, we must treat all criminals as human beings and not resort to force as a punishment for a crime. Ruling a society by force and fear will only cause uprisings and make people feel hate, but by ruling through virtue, compassion, and ritual they will love each other and will not seek to do harm to someone and will respect the government. Gisa Odila- Justice spokesperson for the Partei des Demokratischen Merkantilismus |

Message | I'm sorry, but what the heck is Frau Odila smoking? "The government does not operate or fund any police." So you want private militias to go around exacting their own form of vigilante justice, do you? Or better still, no punishments for crimes at all? I would have thought that the last thing that a "democratic" party would want is to abolish the most basic protection that enables citizens to live in safety. If this legislation were introduced and a person were physically attacked, raped or sexually assaulted, who would they turn to? Well, the answer is that they would have nobody to turn to, because there's no police to report the crime to and no police investigators empowered to look into the crime. We accept that the PDM has a legislative mandate to introduce reforms, and some of the proposals in this legislation are undoubtedly part of this mandate: we oppose these changes of course, but we accept that you have the mandate to introduce most of them. But the PDM has stepped over the mark if it believes that the people of Dundorf have consented to the abolition of the entire criminal justice system. The bill as it presently stands is nothing less than a rapists' bill of rights, a licence for murderers and carte blanche for criminals. This is not an exaggeration in the slightest: without any law enforcement officers, anybody could commit any crime with impunity, because they know that they will never be investigated or punished for it. We urge the PDM to reconsider their approach immediately. - Gabriela Staudinger, internal affairs spokesperson for teh Konservative Partei; Jens Kniebe, justice spokesperson for the Konservative Partei. |

Message | OOC forgive me, I thought that proposition meant that the National Government did not own or fund a police department. I meant to make it entirely a local thing. I will correct that now. |
