Bill: The Reformed Civil Rights Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Partei des Demokratischen Merkantilismus

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3323

Description[?]:

We the members of the PDM believe that some of the current civil right laws are a little too lenient and may be the cause to why our fellow colleagues of the KP believe our society needs harsh punishment for criminals. These current laws state:

1. Weapon concealment:

Any legal weapon may be concealed when carried.

This law may be one of the reasons why the crime rate is escalating and the KP feel they need to punish criminals harshly. To allow any legal weapon to be concealed by anyone will of course invite chaos and crime. For exmaple, what is to stop a person from taking a weapon into a public event and killing someone out of rage? There will be law breakers yes, but to allow this law will incite chaos.

2. Ownership of guns by private individuals:

Ownership of firearms is mandatory for all adults.

Another reason why crime may be so prevalent. Adults have the right to own guns yes but they should never be mandated to own one if they do not want too.

3. The government's policy on public nudity

There are no laws with regards to public nudity, it is allowed.

We cannot have people running around nude and exposing themselves to people who do not want to be seen. As such, there should be areas in public where they can do this and they can of course do this in private.

4. Displays of public affection and obscenity laws.

There are no laws regarding obscene public acts.

The same as my argument against public nudity.

5. National policy regarding the desecration of the national flag:

The national flag may not be desecrated or dishonoured.

A flag is nothing more but an object and a symbol of a nation. A person has to right to express their feelings by desecrating it in anyway they please.

Gretel Helmine- Spokesperson for the Partei des Demokratischen Merkantilismus

MessageWe would probably accept Article 1 and agree with Article 4, but we oppose the bill on the basis of the other articles. While we are open to a revision of the requirement that all adults own a firearm, we think that it's important that people have the largely unencumbered right to carry guns and we don't think that it's productive to impose strict licence conditions.

We are also of the view that respect for the national flag is non-negotiable; while we grant rights and freedoms to people, these are never boundless - and we think that desecration of the symbol of our national community oversteps the mark.

- Gabriela Staudinger, internal affairs spokesperson for the Konservative Partei.

Random fact: In cases where players have failed to clearly and accurately reference their nation's RP laws in the "Bills under debate" section, Moderation will rule them invalid if a challenge is made to their validity.
