Bill: OOC: Mayoral/Gubernatorial Elections
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Justice Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 3376
Description[?]:
MAYORS OK, since we now have elected mayors and an election is coming up, I think that it's appropriate that we establish some systems for mayoral election, just for RP purposes, so you can say that the Mayor of Bier Qassem or whoever did this and that. Of course, if you don't like this, you can throw it out. Note: all this is based on statewide, not nationwide, votes. 1) If the difference in the percentage of the vote between the highest vote-winning party and second-highest vote-winning party is equal to or over 35%, the highest vote-winning party will win all the mayorships in a state. 2) If the difference is less than 35%, the following system will be used: Let 'a' be the difference in the percentage of the vote between the highest vote-winning party and second-highest vote-winning party b=a+65 Let 'c' be the number of votes won by the highest vote-winning party. Let 'd' be the threshold. d=bc/100 A) If only one party equals or exceeds the threshold, that party will win the mayorships of all the cities in that state. B) If two parties equal or exceed the threshold, the highest vote-winning party will win the mayorships of two cities in that state. If there is a third city, the second-highest vote-winning party will win it's mayorship. C) If three or more parties equal or exceed the threshold, the highest vote-winning party will win the mayorship of one city in that state and the second-highest vote-winning party will win another city's mayorship. If there is a third city, the third-highest vote-winning party will win it's mayorship. GOVERNORS The election of governors should be on similar lines to the election of the General Secretary. The two highest vote-winning parties will advance to the run-off round; polling (I'll do it, unless you want someone else) will be used to determine the distribution of the votes in the run-off round. |

Message | OOC: That may be a problem, because I tried to make it fairly simple, in contrast to this: http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4772#p42318. But anyway, I've attempted to have a policy where if you have a high difference (in absolute terms), the winner is more likely to win all the cities, and if you have a high difference (in relative terms), the winner is also more likely to win all. Because the mayorships are not proportionally handed out. You either win or you lose. The election system for the governors should be fairly easy to understand. |

Message | OOC: Based on the calculations above, I have the results of the recent election. BTW, I realised that the gubernatorial election system is unworkable. We'll just have to guess at it. GOVERNORS Al Baharia - UWPF Al Salmania - BJP Al Samarya - BJP Al-Fostat - RVC Marakesh - DotV (actually it was a toss-up, but I'm in a good mood). MAYORS Abu Yacub - UWPF Agundi City - UWPF Al Buqiyya - UWPF Bab al Mira - BJP Ras al Ulima - BJP Dar al Salam - RVC Vashti - RVC Al-Kamelah - RVC Dar al Badara - RVC Bier Qassem - DotV Ras El-Haram - DotV |
