Bill: Budget proposal of May 3386
Details
Submitted by[?]: Popular Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3387
Description[?]:
The Popular Party propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the The Republic of Dranland. We believe that more funding is needed to modernise our education system to make it truly outstanding. We also believe that over the years, some budgets have grown far too big. We would also like to expand our network of embassies overseas and more funding will be needed to do this. The GNP proposed budget cuts to fund the Great North Dovani Plain purchase and we agree with that. So, we have made some efficiency savings in this budget while also protecting essential services as far as possible. Julie Smith Finance Minister (PP) |

Message | We agree with that, and also support the aim of funneling more money into foreign affairs. Expenses for the purchase will be 7082152974504 DRA (= 50 billion LOD), and the other cuts in favor of more embassies fits well within our foreign policy agenda. Message | OOC: Wait, did I get that right? If 50 billion LOD is 7082152974504 DRA, we need more money... |

Message | PAC shall vote for it, despite wishing for another way to work things out. Let it be understood however, that PAC still believes this action should be of last resort since acquiring more land will likewise mean the state will have to invest more in it, with things such as infrastructure both for transport as well as for electricity and waterworks, public buildings, security, among other things. This land is historically underdeveloped and our nation's investment in this land will without a doubt be quite costly. -PAC chairwoman, Vanessa DuFoe |

Message | We agree with that, however the best way to raising the standard of living there will be to attract private investment - we must make these lands attractive to Dranish and international businesspersons. We therefore propose to spare businesses who invest there from taxes on profit acquired through the according investments as a measure to stimulate rapid growth there. Message | We disagree there. Private investment alone cannot reach the heights that both private and state investment can accomplish. Nevertheless, this is a matter left up to the local government of this region. I was merely pointing out the costs the state will have to take in order to rebuild this land, that was all. I still hold true to the notion that heavily reducing many budgets is not in the best interests for our nation, but we are for the raises mentioned here. -PAC Chairwoman, Vanessa DuFoe. |

Random fact: Don't put "the" as the first word in your party name, because when parties are referred to in news reports, their names are preceded with "the", e.g. the [Socialist Party] has lost. |
Random quote: "We must show that liberty is not merely one particular value but that it is the source and condition of most moral values. What a free society offers to the individual is much more than what he would be able to do if only he were free. We can therefore not fully appreciate the value of freedom until we know how a society of free men as a whole differs from one in which unfreedom prevails." - Friedrich August Hayek |
