Bill: Legislature Act 3422

Details

Submitted by[?]: Ḥizb al-Lībirālī al-Qafuri

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 3423

Description[?]:

As discussed with the opposition, this bill will lengthen the parliamentary term from 3 years to around 4, 5 or six years..

We will also be willing to discuss whether there should be an increase in the number of seats of the Majlis Al-Umma.

As a starting point, we will propose a five year term, minus 1 month for campaigning (59 months) OOC: The 59 month term will cause an election to be held one game month earlier each election, so that an election is held at different times in different time zones to make it fairer on those players in different countries.

MessageWe agree with the parliamentary term act. As for the numver of seats in the Majlis Al-Umma, we find 150 seats a fair number. Not to much and not to few.

MessageHow about back to 200, like before? Or 199/201 to rule out ties like we had before once?

MessageI do not like Article 2 ... Best would stay the same with 99, or change to 249...I think the length of the assembly that you proposed is good, but even better would be in 4 years (48 months)

MessageNow that we have 3 parties participating in the elections, a tie would not be possible and even if all three parties had the same amount of seats they have to form a coalition. We could agree with 200.

OOC: I have a great dislike of odd numbers, but thats just me lol

MessageThat's ok, I see. But even a potential coalition could find it divided. I seem to remember a time when it was me with 100 seats against Asly Socialist Party and Ba'athists with 100 between them, and I wasn't forming a coalition with the ASP based on their religious record,
