Bill: German version of National Anthem
Details
Submitted by[?]: Hosianisch-Demokratisches Verbund
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3424
Description[?]:
Our current national anthem is not in German (I would also do Japanese but alas, I am not proficient) while our nation is somewhat allophone. It's also not singable. I have deviced a melody and here I will work on a German revised text of "Land of our Fathers". The translation, me being not a native speaker is of course fallible. Feel free to use this bill to comment. ENGLISH VERSION (original): Dear land of our fathers, of rivers and plains; Made rich by the sunshine, and lush by the rains, Set gem-like and fair, between mountains and sea, Your children salute you, dear land of the free. Long live the Kaiser! Long live the Mikado! Hulstria and Gao-Soto! Green land of our fathers, our heroes of yore, Both native and settler, laid bones on your shore. This soil so they hallowed, and from them are we, All sons of one Mother, the home of the free. Long live the Kaiser! Long live the Mikado! Hulstria and Gao-Soto! Great land of our fathers, diverse though our strains, We're born of their sacrifice, heirs of their pains, And ours is the glory their eyes did not see, One land of two peoples, united and free. Long live the Kaiser! Long live the Mikado! Hulstria and Gao-Soto! ENGLISH VERSION (translation of new version): Oh land of our Fathers, Rich in rivers and plains, You glow in the sunshine and grow with the dew, Oh land 'tween sea and mountains, beautiful as gems, We shall salute you, the free land of our home! God save the Kaiser! Long live the Mikado! Two peoples united, Hulstria and Gao-Soto! Oh land of our Fathers, As green as emerald. In these times strong sons were killed for you, And thanks to their sacrifice, the land was born, And we are your children, you free land of our home! God save the Kaiser! Long live the Mikado! Two peoples united, Hulstria and Gao-Soto! Oh land and our Fathers, Diverse through our struggles, Born together in the sacrifices of earlier times, They gave us the happy fate, that was not in their sight, The land of two peoples, united and free! God save the Kaiser! Long live the Mikado! Two peoples united, Hulstria and Gao-Soto! |

Current:
====================================== In lands where rivers flow and plains stretch wide, Beneath the sun's embrace, in dew's gentle tide, Between the sea and peaks, in beauty's pride, We stand united, in freedom's stride. Oh, land of valor, green as spring's first day, For thee, the bold once gave their lives away. Their sacrifice, our birthright, forever to stay, Children of liberty, in harmony we pray. From diverse strains, one nation, bold and free, A legacy of unity for all to see. A land of two peoples, in solidarity, May we forever cherish, in peace and unity. |

Random quote: "I am a conservative to preserve all that is good in our constitution, a radical to remove all that is bad. I seek to preserve property and to respect order, and I equally decry the appeal to the passions of the many or the prejudices of the few." - Benjamin Disraeli |
