Bill: Longer Terms = More Efficient Government
Details
Submitted by[?]: Ikradonian Faith Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2156
Description[?]:
What we are about to propose, may be received as a move to limit the democracy in the DRI. In reality, it will very much do the opposite. We propose lenghtening the time between Assembly elections from three to four years. As it is now, we lose at least a year before a new cabinet is formed (if necessary). In general, there is little time to coordinate well-prepared policies between coalition partners before the next round of elections is there. Furthermore, elections cost a lot of money. This change would reduce that cost by one quarter. For all these reasons, we feel this will bring more democracy and more efficient governing to the DRI. |

Message | I agree, I've been rather annoyed by the frequency of elections keeping me from get bills in on time. Although, I think the current problem with cabinets is the level of inactivity. A lot of people have exams and Christmas to prepare for. |
