MessageThere you go, using up the budget surplus, keeping the Internal Affairs budget, yet also increasing the necissary investments in our nation's future...

MessageNo, both taxes and spending should be lowered (proportionally) to significantly decrease gov't size (gradually, of course). If we tax people less, they will be able to afford privatized goods (which were previously provided by the gov't with the help of taxes) and therefore we will both give people more responsibility and boost our economy thru privatization.

MessageSo the private sector can provide us with clean air then can they? Oh, and an adequate police force, oh and protecting our borders, oh and of course a triple heart bypass for the unemployed steel worker, recently laid off due to 'privatisation'?

MessageActually, the private sector can provide a triple bypass for the steel worker. Whats your point? Just because he lost his job doesnt mean he cannot afford it...

And so what, the steel worker can get another job and pay for it. Or take out a loan. Or something. So what. I am not his daddy. He shouldnt be looking for government handouts.

Are you making the point that when industries like steel are privatized, that they fire all of the workers that are useless and only drained taxpayer funds?
Uhhh... yea duh...
So, you are trying to prove that the government should waste money by giving jobs to anyone willy nilly?

The reason we privatize is for efficiency.
Efficient allocation of labor is the number one priority, and what happens is that the steel worker has three options:
1. He can stay unemployed and hope for another job at the steel mill
2. he can go back to school, get a GED, and maybe get a degree and switch careers
3. He can give up and not work and go on welfare.

Obviously, number 2 is the best answer, but number one is (kinda not really) acceptable.

But to ALLOW people to just suck funds from the government? That isnt efficient. And really pisses me off...

MessageAgreed with CC.
However, DUP, what you are saying is putting words in my mouth. I never said that the Army should be disbanded or privatized, or police or border control. I just said that things like industries and health care and education should be privatized and welfare and pensions should be churches', charities', and people's responsibility. I DO NOT SUPPORT lowering defense spending! All I fight for is to decrease both income tax AND Health, Education, and Welfare.
