Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Communist Party (DCP) (LL)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 3474
Description[?]:
In order to promote a politically literate populous, better matched coalition, and general debate over important issues. The Minister of Internal Affairs, and if he/she fails, the General Secretary shall: Propose a piece of legislation every election cycle, 1 year and six months or more prior to the upcoming election. A debate between the political parties shall occur on the "debate" feed of this legislation. During this debate, all parties are recommended, but not required to participate. Parties and politicians may debate whatever they like during this official state debate. Parties may also take this time to put forth both their visions and party platforms, as well as make non-binding "campaign promises" for legislation the candidates and parties will propose in the upcoming mandate. Parties may also use this platform to announce endorsements. After the election, the debate feed will be moved onto the floor, where members will vote to "archive" the debate in the official debate records. The name of this legislation shall be "Official Debate of (election year)" and the description shall be the same. |

Message | Basically, this promotes debate and communication between parties in a way that does not spam our nation feed, and is not interrupted by occasional announcements by parties from other nations. |

Message | One thing that should be of note about the debates between the leftist and liberal bloc is that in either outcome, the Ikradonian people prosper. When it comes to conservative principles, they suffer. |

Message | Indeed, indeed. |

Message | The attitude of the Phillipsian Party of Ikradon, and the Workers Democratic Communist Party (on the nation message page) has shown that the left-wing parties are fearful of opposition, scared of the freedom of thought, and oppose dialogue between parties. Stop panicking, socialists! Socialists are meant to be lovers of democracy. Also, my party has been accused of being 'evil' without any evidence. Surely the evil parties are the ones that brand my party evil without any evidence? |

Message | You accused us of being totalitarian after being in our region for how long? And economic liberalism is an evil system if there ever was one. It's self cannibalizing and inevitably creates race and class tension. |

Message | And this bill has nothing to do with you, we have talked about having some sort of debate forum fo a while |

Message | To the Conservatives, we are the furthest thing from totalitarian. We are a thriving example of a socialist democracy. |

Message | OOC: I've observed Ikradon for years, I know what it's been like in the past and it has been quite totalitarian. Socialism robs people of their money to the point where everyone lives in poverty. How, for example, do you justify a top tax rate of 99%? If that isn't barbaric I don't know what is. If this bill does indeed promote dialogue as you claim then we shall support it. |

Message | We justify a maximum income by ensuring quality services for everyone, free housing, free healthcare, a guaranteed job in a democratized and fair workplace. And if no jobs are available, provide them a living wage so that human being isn't seen as worthless simply because there isn't a job for them. We ensure that no person is able to exploit the labor of others for vast and unearned gains. |

Random fact: It is not allowed to call more than 5 elections in 5 game years in a nation. The default sanction for a player persisting in the early election tactic will be a seat reset. |
