Bill: Call for early elections, May 3479

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Communist Party (DCP) (LL)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

Voting deadline: January 3480

Description[?]:

We, the Worker's Democratic Communist Party, call for early elections as soon as we can reach a consensus.
This is due to the collapse of two parties, leaving the people unrepresented.

MessageWe oppose this.
The fact is that they're only proposing this in the hope that the result would be advantageous to them.
Term limits are 2 years, let's have this term without any interruption.
If we had early elections we'd have even more bills forced into the debate stage again and there'd be a massive build-up of bills.

MessageWhile your later terms of disagreement with this are reasonable, the fact I would probably only gain a few seats from this, being that it is so close to the last election. And judging by the position of the PPI and the Liberal party, I think it would stand to reason that the CPI and the PPI would gain the most seats. May it also please the chair that our party has proposed this same bill before when parties have disappeared leaving us short seats.

MessageI can understand your argument too.
If the term length was loner and we were voting on less bills we'd have supported early elections.
However, really, we don't have long to wait for the next election.

Random quote: "We must show that liberty is not merely one particular value but that it is the source and condition of most moral values. What a free society offers to the individual is much more than what he would be able to do if only he were free. We can therefore not fully appreciate the value of freedom until we know how a society of free men as a whole differs from one in which unfreedom prevails." - Friedrich August Hayek
