Bill: Nationalisation of Core Industries
Details

Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: April 3489
Description[?]:
Many of our members are calling for the nationalisation and communalisation of Ikradon's core industries, for the purpose of local and national planning, and in the interests of protecting these industries from the occasional whims of the private market. We believe that most industry should be held by the co-operative industrial councils, owned and ran by their workers. However, there are certain core industries which need to be commandeered by the regional authorities for the interests of all people in the locale, and not just for the benefit of the workers. These industries, we propose, should be publicly or communally owned, and still worker run. We are NOT proposing any attempt to further centralisation or government seizure of private assets. All suggestions and proposals which are in the interests of the working classes, of mind and muscle, from all parties and organisations of the Sinodh welcome. Examples of industries proposed to be brought into communal ownership: - Alkon Scientific Services - Dazlon Research Atomic and all Ikradon Nuclear Fuels Limited regional companies. - Ikradoni Motors - Northern Rural Rail Many others to be considered by our Pwyllgor Diwydiant Cymunol (Communal Industry Committee). OOC: RPing things up a bit. |

Proposal[?] to change Government policy on industry and subsidies to industrial operations.
Old value:: Certain industries are owned by the state, all others are under private ownership.
Current: The government acts as an investor of last resort, by nationalizing failing industries that provide vital goods or services.
Proposed: The state owns the commanding heights of the economy and all major industries, but private ownership is allowed in the minor industries.

Message | NOTE: We do not consider "commanding heights of the economy" as appropriate wording. Our proposal is the 'heavy'/productive industrial sectors. |
Date | 20:39:39, May 19, 2013 CET | From | SCI Libertarian-Socialist Syndicate (LL) | To | Debating the Nationalisation of Core Industries |
Message | We approve of nationalization in the heavy industries because it simply wastes resources when multiple firms attempt to compete: a tragedy of the commons is inevitable. For the primary industries, we need single DWCs determining optimal extraction and production to minimize damage to our natural environment. |
