Bill: Nationalisation of Core Industries

Details

Submitted by[?]: Green-Left Communalist Collective

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3489

Description[?]:

Many of our members are calling for the nationalisation and communalisation of Ikradon's core industries, for the purpose of local and national planning, and in the interests of protecting these industries from the occasional whims of the private market.

We believe that most industry should be held by the co-operative industrial councils, owned and ran by their workers. However, there are certain core industries which need to be commandeered by the regional authorities for the interests of all people in the locale, and not just for the benefit of the workers. These industries, we propose, should be publicly or communally owned, and still worker run. We are NOT proposing any attempt to further centralisation or government seizure of private assets.

All suggestions and proposals which are in the interests of the working classes, of mind and muscle, from all parties and organisations of the Sinodh welcome.

Examples of industries proposed to be brought into communal ownership:
- Alkon Scientific Services
- Dazlon Research Atomic and all Ikradon Nuclear Fuels Limited regional companies.
- Ikradoni Motors
- Northern Rural Rail
Many others to be considered by our Pwyllgor Diwydiant Cymunol (Communal Industry Committee).

OOC: RPing things up a bit.

MessageNOTE: We do not consider "commanding heights of the economy" as appropriate wording. Our proposal is the 'heavy'/productive industrial sectors.

MessageWe approve of nationalization in the heavy industries because it simply wastes resources when multiple firms attempt to compete: a tragedy of the commons is inevitable. For the primary industries, we need single DWCs determining optimal extraction and production to minimize damage to our natural environment.
