Bill: Sales Tax Reduction Plan, Pt 1

Details

Submitted by[?]: Drania Cívica 🏴 시민당

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 3509

Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,

This is the first part of my plan to severely reduce the national sales tax. As the first part of the plan, the national flat income tax rate will be raised to 22% for those earning over 50,000 DRA; those earning less are not required to pay national income tax.

Additionally, the national sales tax on luxury goods will be cut by half, to 11%. It is estimated this will bring in approximately 103,792,805,576 DRA in revenue. Combined with the income tax adjustment, a budgetary surplus of 2,206,320,104 DRA will be achieved.

Following the implementation of this part of the plan, the option of further sales tax reductions or a reduction of the raised income tax will be explored. Once it is officially established how much revenue is received under Part 1 of the plan, the budget adjustments can be more appropriately considered.

MessageMr Speaker,

the fact that the President has explicitly reserved the option of potentially reducing the temporarily increased top - and only - income tax bracket is an important provision that makes this bill gain our support.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).

Random quote: “Can anyone imagine a more perverse idea than forcing faithful Hosians like me to give away my money to enable irresponsible teenage girls to kill off their children because they were too drunk to use a damn condom?" - Dr. Francesca dos Santos, former Dranian politician
