Message | Would the honourable member share examples with us of this abuse? Because we do not see it, Herr Präsident. Though healthy respect for the flag and the land of two peoples, united and free, it represents is no more than desirable, we believe that banning desecration is a bit too much of an encroachment on the freedom of speech. Very rich, Herr Präsident, on behalf of a party which wished to cooperate with a party which wishes to destroy this land of two peoples, united and free, and abolish Gao-Soto as an equal partner in it. die sehr ehrenwerte Anne Nishimura MdR (HDV, Labsburg Sankt Martinus) designierte Staatsministerin (Staatsminister-designate) |

Message | Herr Präsident, I apologize for attempting to exert a moderating influence on my political fellow-travelers, , and for not being the frothing-at-the-mouth caricature the honorable member apparently so desires me to be in debate. Oswald Chiyo Haase Party Leader |

Message | Herr Präsident, Surely the honorable gentleman could agree that a flag - like it or not - represents the nation as a whole? As such, burning it could (in certain views) be perceived as anarchist. I'm sure that the honorable member would not like to be perceived as such to the electorate? Message | Herr Präsident, Herr Haase must forgive me, but I get rather emotional when the matter of the right to political equality between my father's and my mother's communities is concerned. Can he seriously blame me for not regarding him rather highly when he, instead of seeking to govern through the Septembrist centre, didn't protest governing with an avowedly pro-police state and anti-Septembrist party which the centre had already placed under cordon-sanitaire? die sehr ehrenwerte Frau Anne Nishimura (HDV, Labsburg Sankt Martinus) Staatsministerin |

Message | Herr Präsident, I would like to think that the honorable member would regard me based on my words and deeds, and not on the question of whether or not I conform to their definition of 'the center.' If the honorable member gives ill-regard to people simply because they aren't of his or her party, then they must be a lonely fellow indeed. *laughter from the PRS members* The motion before the chamber seeks only to enhance and encourage respect for a national symbol, a symbol of the national union which the honorable member has herself spoken of so highly. I am sorry that our definitions of what constitutes freedom of speech differ on this question, but I will thank the honorable member to, in future, restrain her emotions, and not cast aspersions on the motivations of others because she is momentarily bereft of courtesy. Random quote: "When we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, 'Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!'" - Martin Luther King Jr. |
